Shallow Waters - Equal Eyes

Shallow Waters present you with an onslaught of extreme, politicised noise, barking lyrics at you, whose content comes from newspaper clippings, socialist historical documents and even the poetry of exiled Black Panther and revolutionary Assata Shakur. It's quite unusual to encounter a noise record that has any agenda at all, let alone one that outlines it so lucidly. Fear not though, this is no lecture: Equal Eyes is still a mighty torrent of confrontation, clearly inspired by the likes of Whitehouse in its combination of ear-shredding electronic clamour and vocals. The manner in which these vocals are delivered gives even the most punishing of black metal death-grunters a run for their money, Rob Hill pouring his modulated, distorted scorn over you like a particularly cranky Dalek. Kalimayat is an Indonesian experimental noise project operated by Danif Pradana. Kalimayat started as a guerrilla noise recording where Danif interpreted his idea about noise music by messing around with limited audio equipments.

 • Why this name?
The name Kalimayat is a parody of one of my favorite warrior in Mahabharata Epic called Yudistira a.k.a Prabu Karimata. In Indonesian languange, Kalimayat can also mean river of corpse.
 • Do you play live?
I've done a couple of guerrilla performance. We usually have a party where instead of having a DJ, we decided to have a noise performance.
 • Your influences?

Angst Hase Pfeffer Nase was the solo guise of avant-garde guitarist Chris Cooper, who'd previously worked around the Bay Area with "industrial bluegrass" oddballs Caroliner and adventurous indie-popsters Deerhoof.
